OMER’s Award is named for the Odyssey of the Mind raccoon mascot, OMER, in recognition of individuals or teams who demonstrate outstanding sportsmanship, exemplary behavior, or exceptional talent. Recipients of this award may be coaches, team members, parents, officials or anyone else that tournament officials or directors feel exhibit these traits.
This award is not intended to reward creativity. The Information Desk at each New Jersey tournament collects OMER’s Award recommendations and can provide a short form to be filled out. A sub-committee of CUinNJ Board Members evaluates each submission to determine who will be awarded an OMER. Each recipient receives a medal during the Awards Ceremony at the close of the tournament.
