Saturday we said goodbye to a group of New Jersey Odyssey of the Mind all-stars.
Mickey Brady, long-time Problem Captain, State Board of Directors member, and New Jersey Odyssey of the Mind volunteer for over 40 years, retired from our Board to a standing ovation from those in attendance at our 48th Annual State Finals.
Also retiring from New Jersey Odyssey of the Mind are these beloved Coaches/Coordinators:
- Laurie Miles, Coach, Membership Coordinator, and Site Coordinator from the Woodstown-Pilesgeove Regional School District
- Tracey Schaum, Coach and Site Coordinator from Oradell Public School
- Suzanne Updegrove, Coach and Site Coordinator from Branchburg Central Middle School
- Kate Naso, Coach, Membership Coordinator and Site Coordinator from Glenwood School
All were awarded an OMER’s Award, along with hugs of thanks and admiration, from our Tournament Directors and Association Director.
OMER’s Award acknowledges those who exemplify the spirit and philosophy of Odyssey of the Mind. It is given to teams or individuals who are deemed exceptionally talented or who exhibit extraordinary sportsmanship and teamwork. Recipients of OMER’s Awards may include team members, coaches, parents, officials or anyone else the tournament officials feel serve as Odyssey of the Mind examples or role models. Each recipient of an OMER’s Award receives a special medal.
